Mecklenburg County Courthouse
832 E 4th St, Charlotte, North Carolina 28202
On August 13, 2018 at 9:00AM, King Mills and glo merriweather, two of Charlotte’s freedom fighters, will face trial for their alleged involvement in the Charlotte Uprising.
THEY NEED PEOPLE POWER AND SUPPORT!
Let’s pack the courtrooms for both Mills' and glo's trials. The District Attorney has set their trials for the same day as a way to divide us, BUT we will pack BOTH rooms to show them that the community RISES with Mills and glo, and DEMANDS their freedom.
Since September, 2016, the State has been building cases against these two Black freedom fighters for «inciting to riot.» This alleged ‘riot’ began when the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department shot and killed an unarmed Black man named Keith Lamont Scott. In response to this heinous crime, the people of Charlotte rose up and demanded answers! In lieu of transparency or apologies, CMPD responded with silence, followed by shooting and killing Justin Carr—only a day after killing Scott.
Police murder incited the Charlotte Uprising! Not these two freedom fighters.
This is just another example of how the State works to cage powerful freedom fighters! Just like how the State targets other Black, Brown, indigenous, immigrant, trans, queer, and otherwise marginalized folks. We must fight for and demand the freedom of every political prisoner from Mumia Abu-Jamal to Assata Shakur to Ahed Tamimi to Marius Mason to Debbie Africa to Alejandra Pablos to Rayquan Borum.
WE ARE THE ONES WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR!
JOIN US AS WE RISE FOR TRUE JUSTICE!
